Common questions

Does PixaSmith upload my files?

No. Document and image processing runs locally on your Mac. PixaSmith does not require an account and does not include analytics.

Will PixaSmith replace my source files?

No. Extracted, compressed, and converted results are written to the output folder you choose. Source files remain unchanged.

Why did compression produce no new file?

PixaSmith publishes a compressed copy only when it is meaningfully smaller and passes the selected visual-quality checks. Already-efficient files can finish without a new copy.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

Yes. Image compression accepts up to 1,000 JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or HEIC files in one batch and continues past unsupported or already-efficient items.

How are PDF pages extracted?

Image-only PDFs preserve eligible embedded images. Pages containing text, vectors, gradients, or other composed artwork export as complete rendered PNG files.

Which documents cannot be compressed?

Encrypted, password-protected, digitally signed, structurally damaged, and repair-dependent documents are declined to protect document integrity.
